Experienced staff and accomplished trainers

Alexandra Ansteth began riding at an early age and competed nationally in the hunter, jumper and equitation divisions while in high school.  Alex attended Colorado State University where she double majored in business and equine science/pre-vet.  During her time at CSU, Alex was introduced to colt starting and the discipline of reining.   Upon graduation. she pursued a summer internship with internationally renowned reining trainer Tim McQuay and his wife, Colleen, who specialized in the training and development of young reiners, hunters and jumpers.  That summer internship turned into a full-time job riding and training reiners, hunters and jumpers for the McQuay family.  For the next seven years, Alex focused on the skills and techniques required to help horses build a solid foundation for competition. In January of 2015, Alex joined Augusta Pines Farm as an assistant to then head trainer Martien van der Hoeven.   She helped coach riders to top placings during competitions throughout the years including Pony Finals, International Derby Finals, the Capital Challenge Horse Show, the Pennsylvania National Horse Show and the National Horse Show.   During 2016 Alex was the South Central WCHR Developing Professional Champion, South Central WCHR Handy Champion, South Central WCHR Professional Reserve Champion, National WCHR Developing Professional 3rd place overall and top 12 at the Capital Challenge Horse Show in both the WCHR Professional and Developing Professional Challenge classes.  In 2019, Alex became head trainer at Augusta Pines Farm and continues to provide the excellence in training and coaching that promotes success for clients and their horses.
